CRUISE FOR COLOBUS-2018' RIDING FOR A CAUSE!

Posted on June 22, 2018 at 4:35 AM

After a successful pilot event in 2017 Wambui Ngunya - a Director of Colobus Conservation once again decided to organise and take part in Cruise for Colobus; a 550km motorcycle ride from Nairobi to Diani to raise funds for the conservation of Colobus monkeys. The event took place on Friday, 15 June 2018.

The main aim of the ride is to enable Colobus Conservation to continue operating its 24-hour primate rescue and response service for these endangered primates, particularly in the South Coast of Mombasa, which are injured in road traffic accidents, caught in snares, kept illegally as pets, electrocuted on overhead power cables, attacked by dogs, or poisoned.

The survival of primates and other forest denizens reflects on our own survival as the species giving rise to the second objective of Colobus Conservation : education. Colobus Conservation is involved in the education of local residents on the need to plant and protect their trees; particularly indigenous ones. If the trees are doing well, and the forest denizens have enough to eat which translates to better returns for the human population around.

The final objective of Colobus Conservation is outreach; providing information throughout Kenya and beyond on the work of the Conservation Trust and the plight of this little known primate. All of the funds raised go towards enhancing these objectives, If you would like any further information on the event or campaign, please do not hesitate to contact Wambui or should you wish to contribute to the cause please send to your donation to Mpesa paybill account no: 339227 ( account name : C4C).

Please note donations are still welcome for C4C until Sunday 24 June when the online site closes!
