VAN ASWEGEN READY TO ANSWER KYALAMI'S CALL

Posted on May 25, 2018 at 5:50 AM

Nicole van Aswegen's prolific return to main circuit racing will see her in action at South Africa's biggest motor racing venue again. The Monroe Racing rider will be competing on the Triumph Daytona 675R at Round 4 of the Super-GP Champions Trophy to be held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. This event will coincide with 2018 Auto Trader South African Bike Festival which will also be hosted by the venue.

This will be her first time competing at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit following the complete facility revamp and circuit layout change.

Never fearing new challenges, Van Aswegen is looking forward to the weekend ahead: "I've thoroughly enjoyed racing at the old circuit and it has been a dream of mine to race at the new world class facility. While Sector 2 of the lap remains virtually untouched, there are major changes to the first sector with slight changes to Sector 3. It is basically learning a new circuit again; something that I've been doing quite a bit of since joining the Monroe Racing team."

The team will also be represented by Luca Coc67oni who'll be riding the Kawasaki ZX 6R in the same class. As with Van Aswegen this will also be his competitive debut at the circuit.

With the race weekend being "An event within an event", Van Aswegen is eager to participate in front of what promises to be a packed venue: "It will be good to race in front of a big crowd again; especially with everyone who will be at the venue being a true bike enthusiast of some sort. I hope this will also be an opportunity to showcase the competitive level of our sport. The Super600 races always deliver entertainment throughout the field. The Monroe Racing team will also join our sponsors Fuchs Lubricants South Africa at their stand in the display area. We would like welcome our supporters to visit this area as well and get to know more about the Silkolene product range we use within the team."

The weekend's format will see a change in the programme compared to stand-alone Super-GP Champions Trophy events. Friday, May 25 will still see practice and qualifying taking place. Race 1 will take place on Saturday, May 26 with Race 2 scheduled for Sunday, May 27. Tickets for the event can be pre-purchased at www.quicket.co.za.

The Monroe Racing team would like to thank the following sponsors for making their 2018 season possible: Monroe South Africa, Fuchs Lubricants South Africa, Banff Lodge Hotel, Better Drive, RICH Racing and Race Tech.
