Following its highly successful debut in 2014, the 4:8:12 Endurance Race Series is back and into its third season of racing. The first race, the 4 hour Endurance Race, will take place at Red Star Raceway on Saturday 5 March.

The motorcycle manufacturing giant Suzuki is once again the title sponsor for the 2016 4:8:12 Endurance Race Series, providing SA with its only manufacturer backed motorcycle race series.

All three rounds of the Series take place at Red Star Raceway. The track is a favourite with the riders and the facilities, including a swimming pool to keep the kids happy, a favourite with the spectators. All in all it is a great day out for everyone.

Starting on 5 March, this season’s races take place throughout the year, giving teams 3 months of preparation time between each race.

The dates for 2016 are:

  • 5 March – 4-hour race
  • 9 June – 8-hour race
  • 8 October – 12-hour championship race

Championship Series

This 4:8:12 Championship Series is all about racing, with minimal rules and maximum track time.

Championship Teams of three or four riders compete on single bikes over three races, totalling 24 hours of racing, to win the Championship Series.

Teams participate in two classes. Class A for those quicker than 2:09 and Class B for 2:09 lap speeds and above. The point allocation system allows cross-class competitiveness true to the core of racing fundamentals, which means it is possible for either class to win the overall championship. Just like the 2014 Championship the 2015 4:8:12 Championship standings saw a Pro, Club & Rookie team share the final podium.

Relay Race

We are very pleased to once again be working with the SA's premier motorcycling print publication for the 2016 Superbike Magazine Relay Challenge.

The Relay Challenge was introduced to the Series in season two as a response to the request of many who wished to ride their own motorcycles rather than share a single bike.

The Superbike Relay Challenge is all about racing with your mates, on your own or shared motorcycle.

To race you need to form a Relay Group. This consists of a minimum of three or a maximum of four riders with a minimum of two or a maximum of four motorcycles.

You can challenge your pals to see who really is the fastest, fittest and bravest. You can also challenge the other Relay Challenge Groups for the race win and a share of the podium prizes.

The endurance format means that you get lots of riding time. As a group you can determine the strategy of how often you pitstop.

Your motorcycles can be your normal daily ride. With a few minor modifications you can prepare you bike to race.
