Issuing licences to foreign riders

Posted on August 20, 2014 at 4:15 AM

Dear Madam or Sir,

Recently, we have been contacted by several FMNs with complaints that a licence has been issued to one of their nationals by a different FMN without them being contacted beforehand.

We would like to remind you that the FIM Sporting Code, Art 70.2.1 clearly states that the FMN in question must always ensure that the applicant is not suspended or disqualified by his/her FMN for regulatory or disciplinary reasons.

A licence may only be issued to a foreign rider after the FMN to whom the application is made has obtained the approval (release) of the FMN of the country of which he or she is a national or in whose country the applicant is a permanent resident.

I kindly but urgently request that these principles be respected and that your FMN contact the FMN of any foreign national who applies for any licence issued by your FMN.

Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation. Yours sincerely,

Ignacio Verneda
