APOLLO LEADS TEAM KENYA TO 2ND OVERALL POSITION IN FIM AFRICA MX SHOWDOWN

Kenya finished second overall behind hosts Ugandain the FIM Africa Continental Motocross Championship which culminated atBusiika's Uganda Motorsports Arena (UMA) on Sunday. 


 

In the MX125 class, it was Kenya all the way asApollo Mbuki in his KTM bike led compatriots Rohan Gandhi and Masalule Kituyito a rare 1-2-3 clean sweep finish.

 

But due to the big number of participants (46riders), the hosts Uganda emerged victorious after amassing 676 points, 66points ahead of Kenya, who finished second.

 

Tutu Maina in MX2 got one podium for Kenya. 

In Mx 1, Shivam finished 3rd in the first heat andsecond in the 2nd heat. Generally the Kenyan boys did well.  

They were scheduled to  arrive yesterday at 4pm at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. 

 

Zim rider Sean Mitchell rode in stellar fashion tocome out top in MX1 race. The Zimbabwean successfully reclaimed his title,scoring maximum points (75) to hold off Ugandan riders Maxime Van Pee (63) andAsaf Natan (59) in that order while Shivam finished 6th.

 

The track which is located 40kilometers fromKampala City was in excellent condition. The crowds were indeedimpressive. 

Team Uganda captain Arthur Blick Jr got injured andcould not sparkle in the MX1 group.
