Anti-doping controls were carried out during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship event held in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA, on 29 April 2017. The riders tested were:
No prohibited substances or their metabolites, or markers, or the use of prohibited methods were found in the tested samples apart from Cade Clason’s sample, which tested positive for amphetamine.

The use and consumption of alcohol (ethanol) had been officially prohibited in competition under the WADA rules, incorporated into the FIM Anti-Doping Code, since 2004.
However, as from 2015, WADA agreed that the FIM could henceforth consider alcohol as no longer prohibited as a doping agent but as a substance prohibited for safety reasons under with the FIM Medical Code.
